Weekly Troop / Patrol Meetings
These meetings are the heart of what we do. Patrols are the building blocks of a Boy Scout troop. A patrol is a small group of boys who are similar in age, development, and interests. Working together as a team, patrol members share the responsibility for the patrol's success. They gain confidence by serving in positions of patrol leadership. All patrol members enjoy the friendship, sense of belonging, and achievements of the patrol and of each of its members. During the weekly meetings the boys will learn new skills as they are taught by older scouts. They will also plan outings and enjoy sports and games.
Court of Honor
A court of honor is a special event that occurs just a few times a year. These gatherings recognize the efforts of all the scouts by awarding them their achievements earned in front of a large audience. These are extraordinary ceremonies designed to honor the hard work of each scout. The entire family along with neighbors and friends are expected to attend and share in the celebration.
Service Projects
Service to others is a core value of Scouting. In Troop 193 we take this to heart. Throughout the year we will schedule several service projects that benefit the community around us. One of our most successful projects that we do every year is Scouting for Food, which gathers large quantities of food that is delivered to Food Pantries in our community. This event allows the Boys Scouts to act as a conduit for the citizens of the local community to connect with those in need.
Scouts also select and organize service projects of their own, as this is often required for the scouts to advance in rank. These service projects not only benefit the community, they also provide excellent opportunities for the scouts to demonstrate leadership.
Monthly Outings aka Adventures!
Troop 193 is a very active group. We believe that a strong outdoor program is the glue that holds the entire organization together. We schedule one outing per month. These outings are diverse and provide many opportunities for the scouts to experience new adventures. The outings are also fundamental for the scouts to practice the outdoor skills and training in a real setting. Additionally, these experiences allow the scout to build confidence and gain a sense of accomplishment. Some of the varied activities that Troop 193 has done: camping, hiking, backpacking, bicycling, canoeing, sailing, historical walks, and rock climbing.
